The Perfect Note Of A Violin

Poem Writing In Style Of
Michael Ondaatje
(Inspired by "Sweet Like A Crow)

(P.S. the poem would be better if my parents can stop telling me to go to sleep at 9 p.m......)

The Perfect Note Of A Violin

Your voice is like the snow
from the top of Rocky Mountain, clean and pure
like a silver wind bell swinging in the early spring wind
like a violin hitting a high pitched note
like a Facebook message, like greetings from a long lost friend, like a smile on a little boy’s face.

A breeze on a summer’s evening
a rain, washing off the heat of the day
an ocean wider than my eyes can see.
Like Taylor Swift singing “Speak Now”
like a shade under a willow tree
like the sweet crispy donuts from Play Land
a nightingale teaching her nestlings to sing,
waking me up at 4 a.m.

Like the Polaris shining in the starry night
like matches lighted in a dark room
a famous piece performed by a band, like a whisper recognized by a snow-white owl, like a walk on the ice capes in the North Pole,
the boat drifting on the calm cerulean sea,
a peacock showing off its flamboyant tail,
the fireflies in a tranquil country field.

Like a solider returning home
like faded pictures in an old album
like a dream coming true,
like a child looking for an answer that
he will never find, like the extra chocolate toppings on an ice-cream ,
like 8 As on my report card
like 2 ways at a crossroad
like the sound I heard when you say my name
and a story that will never end.

A Half-Burnt Picture

Poem Writing In Style Of
William Carlos Williams
(Inspired by "The Red Wheelbarrow")

A Half-Burnt Picture

So much depends
upon

A half-burnt
picture

Soaked with tear
drops

Beside the rusty
suitcase
